#10 a) Discussion. PNA supports naming a new significant City venue or part of a new significant City venue, for M L King or Cesar Chavez. Suggestions are: SM Library, Rand site, SM Airport recreation area are appropriate. M/s/p Clyde/Laverne b) & c) tabled

Meeting moves to Campos restaurant

#3 Financial: $4165.00 balance. Membership: Responses coming in from 570 resident and 175 business mailers, approx. 25 so far.
#5 Web site: Growing content, day avg viewers in mid teens, new software on hold
#4 Assembly: detailed discussion on agenda, logistics, coordination, costs, assignments, etc.
#12 Chuck Allord presented a request for the PNA to change its borders. Mathew moved item for discussion. Item died for lack of a second

# 3 Financial: Bal. $3246.68 Millie Missing past statements, requests $50.00 for the cost of duplicates. Clyde S to try to get duplicate statements at no cost.
Membership drive(s):
a) 36 from assembly
b) more from mailer (about 40) but # unknown -Andrew has some mail.
c) need to make new pitch to businesses about web site presence
d) continue to do membership at Farmers Market
e) start phone drive in June


# 4 Annual Recap: 124 sign-ins, about 200 attendees. Cost about $1500. Seminar was a good starter but needs follow up. Great was food. Next year include businesses, focus on neighborhood improvement and political power, look for larger space.


# 5 New Board members: Joe Weichman is seated as a newly elected board member. Tara Zaccagnino and BJ Harper request to fill appointed board seats m/s/p Clyde, Cece Yes 7.
Election of officers is table until June meeting.


#8 Outside Committees: Civic Center item only, as Laverne requests to take board message to the meeting in progress. Civic Center Housing desires include opportunities for ownership, senior and disabled persons in rehabed Rand building. m/s/p Clyde, Cece All yes.


#6 Web site has 19 visits a day, 6 more articles, and one new profile. Don renewed the Domain Name Renewed for 3 years ($45.00). Clyde will see if free or low cost web software is available through his channels


#7 Beautification Program: Millie has approached Merrihews to help with discounts and publicity. No response so far. Millie will get addresses from graffiti crew of possible candidates. Board members will make personal approaches to residents and owners with the program.


#8 Neighborhood Council: Topics under discussion include code enforcement and extension of north of Montana standards for other R1 citywide. PNA should poll residents in our R1 to ascertain an opinion. Perhaps post on web to solicit comments. PNA suggestions for some code enforcement might occur at permit phase of activity such as landscaping check when parking lots are resurfaced.
CCSM: Graffiti is a priority & the maintenance people take care of it. Construction on 20th St. in slow completion, as they have a problem with the contractor
PIO and Pico Blvd Committee Pico Bl.: No report
Conservancy: No meeting yet, Millie & Peter to take pictures in the PN
20th St. update: City has released the RFQ and has selected a firm to make the initial assessment. We need to get that RFQ and firm name.


#9 Light Rail: Informal discussion of the MTA's 3 proposals for the westside. It is suggested PNA invite local advocates to present material at a community meeting perhaps at Bergamot Station. m/s/p Cece, Clyde Yes 8


#10 Residential zoning: Informal discussion


#11 a) PNA in the Mirror, surfsantamonica.com, and Gazette online papers.
b) Richard Bloom introduced anti-graffiti camera idea at Council meeting and requested staff to design pilot program.
c)PNA should suggest to council that we help on dental assessment of residents if program moves forward.

#13 PNA vs Santa Monica: Trial date set for July 9th, 2001.

The PNA Announces it's 2nd Annual Scholarship Essay contest. Through hard work, community support, and accessibility to resources we believe that all children can accomplish goals and continue on to higher education.

The PNA will reward one graduating high school senior $500 for the furtherance of their studies. more


Pico Neighborhood Association is working to improve your mobility within Santa Monica. The City of Santa Monica’s “Know Before You Go” program provides weekly updates of City and permitted utility projects within the City’s streets, sidewalks, parks, and other public space that are expected to impact the public for more than one day.
