b) City dental subsidy letter and message to Council will go out before Fluoride issue is heard
7. Sponsorship of SAMOHI Pet Adoption Club is OKed for $20 per month. Club to set up at Pico/Cloverfield Mkt. Our literature and banner will be there.
8. Discussion of endorsements of pending legislation and 501c3 status. Using IRS guides PNA can endorse pending legislation. We will consider endorsement as election time draws closer and items on the ballot are getting more attention.

Minutes: PNA Board of Directors Meeting November 8, 2001

1. Meeting called to order 7:09
2. Minutes & Agenda approved M/S/P Don/Joe W Yes 6
3. Finan: No bank statement as yet, new balance is about $3126.49, a few checks are outstanding. Membership: 1 new member. Web site: new stat calc method - for 25 days we had 177 visitors, 136 unique , 4-5 new news items. Web site has proven useful especially with our press releases.
4. Board Membership. Tried to contact B J Harper - no response. Motion: Give her one more chance, and send her a letter. Wait until next month for any board action. M/S/P Joe W/Cece Yes 7.
5. Graffiti Removal Day. It was a very successful event. 86 people participated. Joe W, Don G, & Peter T represented PNA, gave certificates for community service to kids who participated . Board sent thank you letters to Kim and her superiors. Luis Ramirez was also thanked. Board previously approved paying for special thank yous for the JAMS participants Motion: Allocate $60.00 to pay for Pizza Party & authorize Peter T, to pay the cost. M/S/P Matt/Cece Yes. 7.
Flu Clinic. Rough start - VSI was late and there was a hitch in accepting Medicare cards. Problems were fixed. PNA will orchestrate better next year & perhaps get some
revenue for the organization. In all, 85 people received shots. Feed back from the community was good - affordable, convenient & a good thing. Peter and Cece represented PNA.
Fluoride. Don presented our position and alternative suggestion. Council approved fluoridation. Ballot measure a possibility. PNA might consider endorsement.
6. PNA Beautification program: Cleo has list and paperwork. He should be working on installation. Matt will make further contact

CCSM: Retreat held on 11/2/01- Cece unable to attend. No word on Delaware variance
PIO: no report
Pico Blvd: no report
Civic Center Planning Sessions: Joe W, Oct meeting no public input but 50 people at last
meeting asked where is the open space. Plan has been subsequently changed to reflect that sentiment.
College: will put $160m bond issue on the March Ballot. Motion: Matt to compose and send letter to College regarding PNA concerns of Pico Blvd. Frontage and commercial viability, traffic and parking mitigation. M/S/P Matt/Clyde Yes. 7.
Virginia Park: A new schematic has been presented to VAPAB and Park&Rec Commission. Next is Planning Commission meeting in Dec. 2001 Pool & Farmers Market still 2 points of
contention.

The PNA Announces it's 2nd Annual Scholarship Essay contest. Through hard work, community support, and accessibility to resources we believe that all children can accomplish goals and continue on to higher education.

The PNA will reward one graduating high school senior $500 for the furtherance of their studies. more


Pico Neighborhood Association is working to improve your mobility within Santa Monica. The City of Santa Monica’s “Know Before You Go” program provides weekly updates of City and permitted utility projects within the City’s streets, sidewalks, parks, and other public space that are expected to impact the public for more than one day.
