Kramer
Auto Body between 9th & 10th Street north of Olympic
Blvd. has been sold to Liberty Livewire which plans to
renovate and occupy the 35,000 sq. ft. site. They have
enlisted the Santa Monica firm of David Gray Architects
to help realize the proposed post production/ media/ digital
studio space. The new design cuts the center out of the
current tin warehouse and creates a huge atrium. It's
a smart light filled transformation that retains the industrial
look.
A
presentation was made to the PNA board at its October
meeting. Issues discussed were:
parking ...meets requirements
noise ...less than body shop use
renovation ...excellent
trends ...of media production and dotcom companies renovating
sites like this one.
The
board took no formal action but wished them luck and acknowledged
the good design.
The
proposal is making its way through the planning department
process. No variances have been applied for. A hearing
date has not been set.
