PICO NEIGHBORHOOD'S GOT MOXIE

WHAT IS MOXIE!
by Christina Chan

Moxie! / Santa Monica International Film Festival is:

A. A year-round film festival

B. An annual accolade called the Moxie! Awards

C. Monthly movie screenings (a.k.a X-Series) with after-parties

D. Keynote Speakers/Industry Seminars

E. Moxie! TV with distance-learning curriculum

The Moxie! Awards is a week long Film and Music Festival that takes place during the first quarter of the year. The Festival includes parties, keynote speakers, industry seminars and special tributes. This year, Moxie! is happy to introduce Moxie! TV (also found at www.moxietv.com) with a recently established distance-learning curriculum. In addition, several short & feature films are screened monthly at the X-Series at Laemmle's Monica 4 Theatre or Aero Theatre with after-parties.

The mission of Moxie! is to become a viable launch pad for all independent films. Since it's inception, Moxie! has grown dramatically, accommodating the astonishing coinciding growth of Santa Monica as the Capital of Indie filmmaking and Internet start-ups. Moxie! has provided an opportunity for people to view both domestic and foreign independent films on a year-round basis. Its monthly showcase provides filmmakers with various venues to bring their films to the heart of the industry, and introduces them to a diverse audience, including industry professionals as well as lovers of the Indie film genre.

Moxie! wishes to continue to foster a unique environment & market place where independent filmmakers and filmgoers alike can share and grow. Moxie! intends to widen its offerings to include an independent film archive, an educational annex, and the promise of funding & lending equipment to individuals who demonstrates extraordinary aptitude in filmmaking.

Moxie! venues include, Aero Theater, Bergamot Station, Laemmles Monica 4 Theater, Santa Monica Library and Sony/Culver Studios.

The Moxie! office is located at 3000 W. Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90404.
