Community Response
to Recent Gun Violence

There will be a Town Hall meeting at Edison Language Academy as an informative meeting to discuss the incidents that occurred and affected our children at Edison.

1. The young male that ran through the school while being chased at 2:45 p.m.

2. The attempted burglary that happened near the school at mid day.

When: Tuesday, January 13th at 6:30 p.m. in Cafeteria.

The goals are the following: Create awareness, share information

Build school, community and police partnerships that are responsive to the needs of our students and parents.

This meeting will be about sharing ideas and working collectively toward solutions.

The format will include:

A panel with presentations by Sgt. Salerno of SMPD, John Deasy, SMMUSD's
Superintendent, Oscar de la Torre, Executive Director of Pico Youth & Family Center and a board member from the Pico Neighborhood Association.

Maria Rodriguez will be the moderator who will keep the meeting focused and constructive.  Carol Davis as our a time keeper who will keep questions and comments to two minutes.

We hope that you will join us. We should all be well prepared with pertinent
and constructive questions. We also need to be respectful of our guests. We need to engage their collaborative spirit and work with them in order to
improve safety for the entire Edison community.

Childcare will be available and is recommended for the duration of the meeting.

Translation will be available.

If you have any questions please feel free to call
us or e-mail us.
